Congrats Cassie and Dan Alyza Rose

Cassie and Dan welcomed their little girl into the world, isn't she gorgeous. Mom is doing fine but Lil M (my nickname for her) is not out of the woods yet. I am going to post the email part here, "They ran MANY tests on Alyza to see if there was anything they could diagnose on her right kidney and to see if her right kidney had any function left (if any). Unfortunately, the last test performed showed that her Right Kidney is not functioning at all, but her left Kidney is doing OUTSTANDING! Her right kidney will have to be removed, but they are going to wait 6 months to 1 year before doing to surgery so that Alyza is a better candidate for Anesthesia. Alyza and I will NOT be returning to Okinawa with Dan. The reason is, if Alyza's right kidney should start releasing toxins, or if she developed any degree of a Urinary Tract infection, it would be life-threatening and Okinawa doesn't have the medical specialists Alyza needs to have immediately available to treat her if anything happened. She will be on Antibiotics until she is able to go in for surgery to remove her right kidney." They were flown to Hawaii from Japan with the anticipation of needing specialist for Alyza a month before she was born. The fear was it was both kidneys. They are coming to the states and Dan will get a humanatairn PCS back to the States so Alyza can be near a major medical facility. She is adorable and Cassie you will make a wonderful mom. I know the last few months have been hard and the one's in the future hard but Alyza couldn't have asked for better parents to get her thru this. All 3 of you are in my prayers and Congrats on a beautiful little girl. Mauh I love you girly. Maggie,This is Papa (Dan's Dad). Glad I could help you get up and going with your blog. It's only fitting that a beautiful and special girl like Peanut has a "world-wide" presence...of course, that's probably just the doting grandpa in me. Can't wait to see her. So you noticed Dan has a thing about initials, huh? No wonder he didn't want Victoria Rose (we were going to call her "Tori" for short), because the initials don't spell anything. Just got off the phone with them, they're both a little tired but Alyza is sleeping through the night (at least 6 hours of it, anyway) now, so she's giving them a little break. Her good kidney is still working real well (at least, Dan says he's changing diapers like crazy...lol). Anyway, I don't know when you last checked the original website, but I think there were only 16 pictures on it when you posted there, there are now 28 (and that's all there will be until they get me some more new ones). Take a look and feel free to grab them for yourself. Thanks for taking the time to do this for Peanut (ok, Lil M...).

Alyza Doing Well
Just wanted to let you know that Alyza had her first well baby checkup on Monday, May 16, 2005 and is doing very well according to the doctor. She is gaining weight like she is supposed to and is very well behaved when out in public (Dan and Cassi say she saves up her fussiness and attitude for when they are alone in their room...lol). Still waiting on paperwork to go through so everyone can get back to the States (since it's the government, Peanut might be old enough to vote by the time they get it all taken care of). Have been posting little notes on the other blog every so often to let everyone know what's up with them. They are going to be getting me new pictures soon so I will get them on Alyza's site as soon as I get them. - PapaAnonymous

Cassi's Home Theater Starring Alyza Rose Meyer
Cassi and Dan talked me (Papa) into putting up Alyza's last ultrasound before she was born on the website. It's now a Flash movie, running time about 10 minutes, and best viewed with a high speed connection (cable, DSL or better). You can still watch it with a dial-up modem, it will just take a bit longer to load (but Alyza is worth the wait). So now you can see the Before (ultrasound) and After (pictures) views of Little Peanut. Dan and Cassi are doing okay, just tired of living in a small room while waiting for paperwork to get done. Typical government, hurry up and wait (especially trying since they can now see the mainland over the horizon and are getting anxious to get back). Guess they'll get here when they get here. Anyway, just wanted to let you know about the video, there's a link to it on the main page. Take care.Anonymous

Alyza and Mom Now In Las Vegas
This is Alyza's Papa. Just wanted to let everybody know that Alyza and Cassi are now in Las Vegas. They arrived around 9 a.m. this morning (June 3) and are staying with Cassi's Aunt Pam until June 14, at which time they will come to Massachusetts to stay with Nana and Papa until Dan gets the new assignment straightened out. Dan caught a plane back to Okinawa this morning and will be arriving there sometime tomorrow, then will dive in to get all the government b.s. smoothed out to get the official orders back to the States. Cassi said Alyza slept almost all the way from Honolulu (she should have, they left around midnight Honolulu time) to Las Vegas, only fussed a little right before Las Vegas because she was hungry. Both are kind of tired after the flight and missing Dan, but excited to be back on the mainland after the last few weeks. Be sure to say hi to them and if you are in the Vegas area, go spoil the Little Peanut. Take care.Anonymous

Alyza and Cassi In Massachusetts
Just to update everyone, Alyza and Cassi arrived in Boston, Massachusetts yesterday morning (June 15, 2005) at around 6:30 a.m. We drove back to Attleboro (about an hour away) and got them settled in. Dan just found out he is being reassigned to McGuire AFB, New Jersey (about 20 minutes from Trenton) and will be leaving Okinawa by June 30. He will spend 2 weeks here in Massachusetts on leave before going to New Jersey to set up a new place to live. I understand that "Aunt" Maggie only lives about 45 minutes or so from McGuire so she can come visit "Lil M". It's only about 4 1/2 hours from Nana and Papa so we can visit, too. By the way, Little Peanut has BIG blue eyes and is beyond Gerber baby cute now...but that could just be Papa's singular point of view...lol. More New (Old) Pictures on Website
Hi, everyone. Just posted 24 new pictures (new on the website anyway) of everyone's favorite Little Peanut (or Lil M, in deference to Maggie...lol). Cassi and Nana have some more film to get developed and those will be put up as soon as we get them back (so everyone can see how she's grown, and smiling, etc.). Take care. - Papa
